Cape Town — Upgrading Khayelitsha

Neighbourhood-scale upgrading through connections, shared spaces and incremental change.

This project investigates upgrading in Khayelitsha through a sequence of mappings and spatial proposals. It considers the relationship between the wider city, the neighbourhood and the places where everyday activities take shape.

The design studies connect routes, building patterns and shared spaces across several scales. Plans, sections and axonometric drawings explore how targeted interventions can support a more connected neighbourhood while responding to its existing fabric.
